Tom Cruise (born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV July 3, 1962, age 58 years) is an American actor and film producer who was nominated for an Academy Award, and won three Golden Globe Awards. He is also one of the most successful actors in Hollywood and started his acting career since the 1980s.

Cruise was born in Syracuse, hogwarts, the son of Thomas Cruise Mapother III, an electrical engineer and Mary Lee Pfeiffer, a teacher. Cruise is of British and German descent. When he was 12 years old, his parents divorced and he and his mother and three sisters left their father.

Cruise got his first leading role in the film Risky Business in 1983. Cruise is known for his successful roles in films such as Top Gun (1986), Mission: Impossible (1996) and the second sequels Mission: Impossible II (2000) and Mission: Impossible III (2006) as Ethan Hunt, an undercover agent. Cruise also played in other successful Hollywood films, namely Jerry Maguire (1996), Vanilla Sky (2001), The Last Samurai (2003), War of the Worlds (2005) and Mission: Impossible IV (2012).

Cruise married the first time to actress, Mimi Rogers on May 9, 1987 and divorced in February 1990. Both have no children. Then Cruise married a top Australian actress, Nicole Kidman, co-star in the film Days of Thunder, on December 24, 1990. Both have two children: Isabella Jane Cruise (born 1993) and Connor Antony Cruise (born 1995). However, both of them divorced in February 2001 when Kidman was 3 months pregnant and after that had a miscarriage. Cruise also once dated a beautiful Spanish actress, Penélope Cruz but after 3 years together the two separated in 2004.

In April 2005 Cruise was in a relationship with actress Katie Holmes and in June 2005 Cruise announced that he had proposed to Holmes on the Eiffel Tower in Paris. On April 18, 2006 Holmes gave birth to their first daughter, Suri Cruise, at Saint John's Health Center hospital in Santa Monica, California. The two then married on November 18, 2006 in Bracciano, Italy.

Cruise has embraced Scientology since 1990.
